Recombinant rat monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. Recombinant antibodies are generated using specific genes that code for the desired antibodies, which are cloned into expression vectors and expressed in vitro.
Advantages include improved specificity and consistent performance across production lots.
It is recommended to titrate the antibody carefully for optimal results in the intended assay.
Target Information
The CD4 antigen participates in the recognition of MHC class II molecules and acts as a co-receptor for HIV. CD4 is primarily expressed in T helper cells, but may also be found in monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells.
At the tissue level, CD4 expression can be detected in thymus, lymph nodes, tonsils, spleen, and specific regions of the brain and gut.
CD4 assists in initiating or enhancing T-cell activation through its association with the T-cell receptor complex and tyrosine kinase Lck.
It may also contribute to neuronal damage in infectious and immune-mediated CNS diseases.
Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts have been identified (RefSeq, July 2017).
