Target Information
SEC23IP is involved in protein transport from the endoplasmic reticulum to the Golgi apparatus. The encoded protein interacts with a mouse protein similar to yeast Sec23p, a key COPII component. It shows similarity to phospholipid-modifying proteins, particularly phosphatidic acid-preferring phospholipase A1. Overexpression can cause disorganization of the ER-Golgi intermediate compartment and Golgi apparatus, indicating a role in the early secretory pathway.
