MCM2 (Mini chromosome maintenance protein 2) is involved in regulating DNA replication.
MCM2, also known as CDCL1, mitotin, and BM28, is a human nuclear protein crucial for cell cycle progression, particularly in the onset of DNA replication and cell division.
It belongs to the family of early S-phase proteins and is mapped to chromosome 3q21.
CDCL1 is considered a candidate oncogene affected by chromosomal breaks in acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
