Target Information
Mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling cascades include MAPK (ERK), MAPK kinase (MKK or MEK), and MAPK kinase kinase (MAPKKK or MEKK).
MEKK1 phosphorylates and activates MAPKK 1 and MAPKK 2 (MEK1/MEK2), leading to phosphorylation of MAP kinases.
It is also an efficient activator of the JNK cascade and contains a putative RING-type zinc finger and SWIM-type zinc finger.
These kinases are highly conserved across species including yeast, Drosophila, and mammals.
