Target Information
The ACTR1A gene encodes a 42.6 kDa subunit of dynactin, a macromolecular complex composed of 10–11 subunits (22–150 kDa). Dynactin interacts with microtubules and cytoplasmic dynein, playing key roles in:
- ER-to-Golgi transport
- Centripetal movement of lysosomes and endosomes
- Spindle formation and chromosome movement
- Nuclear positioning
- Axonogenesis
This subunit is present in 8–13 copies per dynactin molecule and is the most abundant component. It is an actin-related protein sharing approximately 60% sequence identity with conventional actin.
