Target Information

MAP4K5 (KHS1) is a serine/threonine kinase belonging to the GCK family of kinases. It acts as an upstream regulator of MAP kinase signaling pathways.
Yeast SPS1/STE20 functions near the beginning of the MAP kinase cascades essential for yeast pheromone response.
In mammalian cells, MAP4K5 activates Jun kinase, suggesting a role in stress response.
Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been described for MAP4K5.
