Product Specific Information
- Store vial at 4°C prior to restoration.
- For extended storage, aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below.
- Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing.
- Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature.
- Stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid.
- Dilute only prior to immediate use.
Glycerol Kinase antibody is an IgG fraction purified from monospecific antiserum by a multi-step process including delipidation, salt fractionation, and ion-exchange chromatography, followed by extensive dialysis.
Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-Peroxidase, anti-Goat Serum, and purified or partially purified Glycerol Kinase (Cellulomonas species).
Cross-reactivity with Glycerol Kinase from other sources is unknown.
Target Information
Glycerol kinase belongs to the FGGY kinase family and catalyzes the phosphorylation of glycerol by ATP to produce ADP and glycerol-3-phosphate.
It plays a critical role in glycerol uptake and metabolism.
Defects in this gene cause glycerol kinase deficiency (GKD).
Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
