Target Information
Kallikreins are a subgroup of serine proteases with diverse physiological functions. Many kallikreins are implicated in carcinogenesis and have potential as novel biomarkers for cancer and other diseases.
The NES1/KLK10 gene is part of the kallikrein subfamily cluster on chromosome 19. Its encoded protein is secreted and may play a role in the suppression of tumorigenesis in breast and prostate cancers.
Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding the same protein.
