Target Information
CDK11 is a member of the cyclin-dependent kinase 11 family, essential for eukaryotic cell cycle control. It is located near CDC2L2, a nearly identical gene in the same chromosomal region. CDK11 negatively regulates normal cell cycle progression, is regulated during murine embryogenesis, and its activity is coordinated with p34 (cdc2). The CDK11 gene may harbor tumor suppressor genes affected by chromosome 1p36 modifications in neuroblastoma. CDK11 can be cleaved by caspases and plays roles in cell apoptosis.
