Target Information
FIRE (also known as EMR4) is a 689 amino acid protein encoded by the human EMR4 gene. It belongs to the G protein-coupled receptor 2 family (LN-TM7 subfamily).
The EGF-TM7 family proteins contain EGF-like domains at their extracellular N-terminus linked to a classical seven-transmembrane domain.
FIRE mediates interactions between myeloid and beta cells, functioning as a membrane-bound, multi-pass protein cleaved into two subunits: an extracellular alpha subunit and a seven-transmembrane subunit.
It contains one GPS (G protein-coupled receptor proteolytic cleavage site) domain and two EGF-like domains, the latter involved in ligand interaction.
