Target Information
GAK serine/threonine kinase, also known as Cyclin-G-associated kinase, was originally identified as a protein associated with cyclin G. GAK does not activate CDK5 kinase activity nor is its activity activated by cyclin G. It acts as an auxilin homolog involved in the uncoating of clathrin-coated vesicles by Hsc70 in non-neuronal cells. Expression oscillates slightly during the cell cycle, peaking at G1.
