Target Information
STYK1 is a probable tyrosine protein kinase with strong transforming capabilities across various cell lines. Overexpression can induce tumor cell invasion and metastasis in distant organs. It may act by activating both MAP kinase and phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K) pathways.
It is widely expressed, with high levels in brain, placenta, and prostate. STYK1 is expressed in tumor cells such as hepatoma (LO2), cervix carcinoma (HeLa), ovary cancer (Ho8910), and chronic myelogenous leukemia (K562) cells, but not in certain other tumor types such as epidermoid carcinoma.
