Target Information
Aurora kinases are associated with microtubules during chromosome movement and segregation. Aurora B (AURKB) localizes to microtubules near kinetochores, specifically to K-fibers. This complex plays roles in chromosome alignment, histone modification, and cytokinesis. The chromosomal passenger complex (CPC) includes Aurora B, INCENP, survivin, and borealin, which regulate activity, localization, and stability. Two CPC forms exist during mitosis: a full complex and an INCENP-AurB subcomplex. Aurora B is overexpressed in several tumors, including breast and colon cancers, and may have a feedback relationship with Aurora-A kinase.
