DIAPH1 is a homolog of the Drosophila diaphanous gene, associated with autosomal dominant, nonsyndromic sensorineural progressive low-frequency hearing loss.
This gene may play a role in actin polymerization regulation in inner ear hair cells.
Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified.
