Target Information
MAP3K5 (ASK1) is a serine/threonine kinase abundantly expressed in human heart and pancreas. It is activated by various extracellular stimuli such as cytokines, growth factors, and environmental stresses. ASK1 (Apoptosis Signal-Regulating Kinase 1) activates MKK4 and MKK6, which subsequently activate JNK and p38 MAP kinases. ASK1/MAPKKK5 interacts with TRAF family members and Daxx to mediate TNFR and Fas signaling. Overexpression of ASK1 induces apoptosis, while its inactive form inhibits TNF-α-induced apoptosis. ASK1 is expressed in various human and mouse tissues.
