Target Information

F-Box and WD Repeat Domain Containing 7 (FBXW7) is a member of the F-box protein family characterized by an approximately 40 amino acid motif known as the F-box. These proteins form part of the SCF (SKP1-cullin-F-box) ubiquitin ligase complex, functioning in phosphorylation-dependent ubiquitination.
FBXW7 belongs to the Fbws class, containing both an F-box and seven tandem WD40 repeats. It binds directly to cyclin E, targeting it for ubiquitin-mediated degradation. Mutations in FBXW7 are associated with ovarian and breast cancer, suggesting a role in tumor pathogenesis. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
