SPRY2는 sprouty 단백질 계열에 속하는 단백질을 암호화하는 유전자로, 수용체 티로신 키나아제 신호 억제에 필수적인 카르복실 말단 시스테인 풍부 도메인을 포함합니다. 이 단백질은 성장 인자 자극에 따라 세포막 돌기(ruffles)로 이동하며, 섬유아세포 성장 인자(FGF2) 신호 억제에 간접적으로 관여합니다. 또한 Cas-Br-M 변형 서열과 상호작용하여 EGF 수용체/MAPK 신호 경로의 양방향 조절자로 기능할 수 있습니다. 폐 발달 중 폐포 가지 형성에도 역할을 하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다.
