Target Information
NF-kB is a nuclear transcription factor activated by various extracellular and intracellular stimuli such as cytokines, UV radiation, stress, injury, and microbial products. It regulates key cellular processes including growth, differentiation, proliferation, apoptosis, and inflammation.
NFKB1 (p50), a 50 kDa functional subunit of NF-kB, belongs to the Rel protein family. It is synthesized as a p105 precursor containing an N-terminal conserved RHD region with nuclear localization, DNA-binding, and dimerization domains. NFKB1 (p50) can form homodimers or heterodimers with p65 to constitute the functional NF-kB complex, facilitating nuclear translocation and DNA binding.
NF-kB has been implicated in various pathological conditions such as AIDS, hematogenic cancer metastasis, and rheumatoid arthritis.
