Product Specific Information

1 µg/mL of MA5-45439 was sufficient for detection of Shank1–4 in 10 µg of rat brain lysate by colorimetric immunoblot analysis using Goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody.
Detects approximately 160 kDa. Recognizes Shank1, Shank2, and Shank3.

Target Information

Shank proteins are a family of scaffold proteins that interact with various membrane and cytoplasmic proteins.
At postsynaptic sites of excitatory synapses, Shank proteins play key roles in signal transmission into postsynaptic neurons.
Studies indicate that Shank2 is expressed in developing retinal neurons and may be involved in neuronal differentiation.
Disruption of glutamate receptors at the Shank postsynaptic platform has been linked to postsynaptic density loss and synaptic dysfunction in Alzheimer’s disease.
