Product Specific Information

1 µg/mL of MA5-45438 was sufficient for detection of Shank1–4 in 10 µg of rat brain lysate by colorimetric immunoblot analysis using Goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody. Detects approximately 160 kDa. Recognizes Shank1, Shank2, and Shank3.

Target Information

Shank proteins are a family of scaffold proteins interacting with various membrane and cytoplasmic proteins. They are located at postsynaptic sites of excitatory synapses and play a role in signal transmission into the postsynaptic neuron. Shank2 is expressed in developing retinal neurons and may be involved in neuronal differentiation. Disruption of glutamate receptors at the Shank postsynaptic platform may contribute to synaptic dysfunction and loss observed in Alzheimer’s disease.
