Product Specific Information

  • 1 µg/mL of MA5-45440 was sufficient for detection of Shank1–4 in 10 µg of rat brain lysate by colorimetric immunoblot using Goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody.
  • Detects approximately 160 kDa.
  • Recognizes Shank1, Shank2, and Shank3.

Target Information

Shank proteins are a family of scaffold proteins that interact with diverse membrane and cytoplasmic proteins. They are localized at postsynaptic sites of excitatory synapses and play a role in signal transduction into postsynaptic neurons.
Shank2 is expressed in neurons of the developing retina and may contribute to neuronal differentiation. Disruption of glutamate receptors at the Shank postsynaptic platform has been implicated in synaptic dysfunction and loss associated with Alzheimer’s disease.
