Human growth hormone (hGH)는 성장 조절에 중요한 역할을 하는 somatotropin/prolactin 계열 호르몬의 일원입니다. GH1 유전자는 염색체 17의 growth hormone locus에 위치하며, 이 부위에는 4개의 관련 유전자가 존재합니다. 이들 유전자는 높은 서열 유사성을 가지며, alternative splicing을 통해 약 19–24 kDa의 5가지 isoform을 생성합니다.
