Target Information
CD13 (ANPEP) is a 150–170 kDa type II transmembrane zinc-binding ectopeptidase expressed on various cell types.
It acts as a metalloprotease that removes neutral amino acids from small peptides, thereby activating or inactivating bioactive peptides.
CD13 is involved in extracellular matrix degradation, antigen processing, and signal transduction, playing roles in inflammatory responses, intercellular contact regulation, cell motility, and vascularization.
It is expressed by granulocytes, monocytes, and myeloid leukemia cells, contributing to leukemic cell protection against apoptosis and is associated with poor prognosis in carcinomas.
Additionally, CD13 functions as an aminopeptidase enzyme and serves as an alpha receptor for coronavirus.
