Target Information
The distal-less homeobox 3 (DLX3) protein is a putative transcriptional activator involved in development and differentiation of epithelial tissues. This homeodomain transcription factor in vertebrates is related to Distal-less in Drosophila, and is expressed in differentiating epidermal cells, neural crest, hair follicles, dental epithelium, mesenchyme, optic and olfactory placodes, limb bud, placenta, and the cement gland located in the anterior neural plate of Xenopus embryos.
