Target Information
Estrogen-related receptor alpha 1 (ERRα, ERR1) is an orphan member of the nuclear hormone receptor superfamily. ERR family members share an almost identical DNA-binding domain with 68% amino acid identity to the estrogen receptor. ERRα binds to the ERR-alpha response element (ERRE) containing the consensus half-site 5’-tnaaggtca-3’, and can also interact with the MCAD response element (NRRE-1), acting as a regulator of the MCAD promoter. ERR1 functions as a metabolic regulator and is expressed in tissues that preferentially metabolize fatty acids. The corresponding gene for ERR1 is NR3B1.
