Product Specific Information
- Tested in direct ELISA
- Does not react with Mouse or Rat
- For IHC (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 min
Target Information
ITGB1 (Integrin Subunit Beta 1, CD29)
ITGB1 is a 110 kDa cell surface glycoprotein expressed by various cells including all leukocytes. It forms non-covalently linked heterodimers with multiple alpha chains (α1–α6), determining the binding properties of beta1 (VLA) integrins.
This molecule functions as a cell adhesion protein on platelets and as part of complexes binding extracellular matrix proteins. Reduced ITGB1 expression is associated with multidrug resistance in tumor cells.
Up-regulated during leukocyte emigration, ITGB1 plays a critical role in immune cell trafficking, tissue damage regulation, and inflammatory responses such as in inflammatory bowel disease.
Fibronectin and type I collagen enhance cytokine secretion in airway smooth muscle via ITGB1-dependent mechanisms.
Two major isoforms, β1A and β1D, differ by 13 amino acids and show tissue-specific expression patterns: β1A is present in most tissues except cardiac and skeletal muscle, which express β1D.
