Target Information
TYW2, also known as TRM12, is an enzyme involved in the wybutosine-tRNA (Phe) biosynthesis pathway. Wybutosine (yW) is a hypermodified guanosine at the 3-prime position adjacent to the anticodon of phenylalanine tRNA, stabilizing codon-anticodon interactions during ribosomal decoding.
TYW2 participates in a multistep enzymatic reaction that ensures accurate translation by stabilizing base-pairing during decoding.
It has been found amplified in breast cancer cell lines, and qPCR analysis of breast tumors showed overexpression of TYW2 mRNA, suggesting its potential role in breast cancer.
