Target Information
The FHL1 gene encodes a member of the four-and-a-half-LIM-only protein family. These proteins contain tandemly arranged zinc finger domains with conserved cysteines binding zinc atoms. Expression is cell- and tissue-specific, involved in various cellular processes. Mutations in FHL1 are associated with Emery-Dreifuss muscular dystrophy. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described.
