Target Information
The 6x His tag is a synthetic oligopeptide consisting of six consecutive histidine residues (HHHHHH).
It is commonly expressed at the N- or C-terminal of recombinant proteins to facilitate isolation or purification via immobilized metal affinity chromatography (IMAC).
Epitope tagging enables detection of proteins lacking specific antibodies by fusing a known epitope to the recombinant protein.
His-tagged proteins can be purified using Ni²⁺-NTA adsorbents due to strong and selective metal chelation by histidine clusters.
His tag-specific antibodies are used for detection or co-immunoprecipitation of tagged proteins.
