Product Specific Information

  • Western blot shows a band at approximately 75–80 kDa.
  • The difference between theoretical and observed molecular weight is likely due to heavy glycosylation and palmitoylation.
  • Suggested positive control: antigen standard for CD36 (transient overexpression lysate).

Target Information

CD36, also known as scavenger receptor class B member 3, is a membrane protein expressed on macrophages, platelets, and adipocytes. It plays key roles in lipid metabolism, inflammation, and atherosclerosis, mediating recognition and uptake of oxidized LDL, long-chain fatty acids, and apoptotic cells.
CD36 also functions as a receptor for thrombospondin and collagen, and mediates cytoadherence of Plasmodium falciparum-infected erythrocytes.
Mutations in this gene can cause platelet glycoprotein deficiency. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants exist.
Diseases associated with CD36 include Platelet Glycoprotein IV Deficiency and Coronary Heart Disease 7.
