TSEN2는 tRNA-splicing endonuclease complex의 두 개의 촉매 소단위 중 하나로, pre-tRNA의 splice site를 인식하고 절단하는 역할을 합니다.
이 효소는 pre-tRNA를 절단하여 intron과 두 개의 tRNA 절반 분자를 생성하며, 각각은 2’,3’-cyclic phosphate와 5’-OH 말단을 가집니다.
Isoform 1은 5’-splice site 절단의 활성 부위를 포함하며, Isoform 2는 알려지지 않은 RNA 기질을 처리하는 것으로 추정됩니다.
또한 TSEN2 복합체는 pre-mRNA 3’-말단 처리 인자와 결합하여 tRNA 스플라이싱과 mRNA 가공 간의 연관성을 제공합니다.
