Target Information
The HTR3B gene encodes subunit B of the type 3 receptor for 5-hydroxytryptamine (serotonin), a neurotransmitter, hormone, and mitogen. This receptor belongs to the ligand-gated ion channel receptor superfamily and mediates fast, depolarizing neuronal responses upon activation. Functional receptor activity requires heteromeric assembly of A and B subunits; individual subunits alone result in low conductance and response amplitude.
