Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the calcium-sensitive chloride conductance protein family. All members of this gene family map to chromosome 1p31-p22 and share high homology in size, sequence, and predicted structure, but differ in tissue distribution.
This protein is predominantly expressed in trachea and lung, suggesting a role in cystic fibrosis pathogenesis. It may also act as an adhesion molecule for lung metastatic cancer cells and as a tumor suppressor gene for breast cancer.
