Product Specific Information
Description:
The 4S.B3 monoclonal antibody reacts with interferon-gamma (IFN gamma). Human IFN gamma is a 17 kDa factor produced by activated T and NK cells and functions as an antiviral and antiparasitic cytokine. It acts synergistically with other cytokines such as TNF alpha to inhibit cell proliferation and modulate immune responses.
Applications Reported:
Reported for use in flow cytometric analysis and intracellular staining followed by flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested:
Pre-titrated and validated for intracellular staining and flow cytometric analysis of stimulated normal human peripheral blood cells. Recommended usage: 5 µL (0.06 µg) per test (100 µL final volume, 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test).
Fluorophore Information:
eFluor® 660 is a replacement for Alexa Fluor® 647. It emits at 659 nm and is excited by the red laser (633 nm).

Target Information
IFN gamma (Interferon gamma, Type II interferon)
A macrophage activation factor produced primarily by T-lymphocytes and NK cells in response to antigens and cytokines. It is a dimeric glycoprotein (~45 kDa) composed of two 146 amino acid subunits. Functions include:
- Antiviral and tumor antiproliferative activity
- Induction of MHC class I and II expression
- Macrophage activation
- Enhancement of immunoglobulin secretion by B cells
IFN gamma acts through IFN gamma receptor I/II and the JAK-STAT pathway. It is species-specific and does not cross-react between human and mouse. Gene mutations are associated with aplastic anemia.
