Target Information

UBXN1 (Ubiquitin-binding protein) plays a role in modulating innate immune responses. It inhibits both RIG-I-like receptor (RLR) and NF-κB pathways. Upon viral infection, UBXN1 is induced and recruited to MAVS, interfering with MAVS oligomerization and disrupting MAVS/TRAF3/TRAF6 signaling. It also modulates TNFα-triggered NF-κB signaling by interacting with cIAPs, preventing their recruitment to TNFR1. Additionally, UBXN1 associates with CUL1 to inhibit NF-κB inhibitor α (NFKBIA) degradation, interacts with the BRCA1-BARD1 complex to regulate its activity, and binds Lys-6–linked polyubiquitin chains. It participates in a complex that couples deglycosylation and proteasome-mediated degradation of misfolded ER proteins retrotranslocated to the cytosol. [UniProt]
