Product Specific Information
The HIP8 monoclonal antibody reacts with the human CD41 molecule (integrin alphaIIb, platelet GPIIb). CD41 forms a complex with integrin beta3 (GPIIIa, CD61) and is expressed in megakaryocytes and platelets. This complex serves as a receptor for fibronectin, fibrinogen, von Willebrand factor, vitronectin, and thrombospondin, mediating platelet aggregation. HIP8 antibody blocks platelet aggregation.
Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis
Applications Tested: Pre-titrated and validated for flow cytometry using human peripheral blood cells at 5 µL (0.25 µg)/test.
A test is defined as the amount of antibody that stains a cell sample in a final volume of 100 µL. Cell number may range from 10⁵ to 10⁸ cells/test.

Target Information
CD41 (platelet glycoprotein IIb, ITGA2B) consists of two subunits (120 kDa α and 23 kDa β) that interact with CD61 in the presence of calcium to form a functional adhesive receptor. CD41 mediates platelet aggregation and binds various proteins such as von Willebrand factor, fibrinogen, fibronectin, and vitronectin upon vascular injury. It is mainly expressed on the megakaryocyte-platelet lineage and appears during early hematopoietic differentiation.
Diseases associated with CD41 dysfunction include Glanzmann Thrombasthenia and Platelet type-16 bleeding disorder.
