Target Information
Arginyl-tRNA-protein transferase (ATE1), also known as arginyltransferase 1, belongs to the R-transferase family. It is essential for protein degradation via the ubiquitin pathway, mediating posttranslational conjugation of arginine to N-terminal aspartate-, glutamate-, and possibly cysteine-containing substrates.
ATE1 is a 518 amino acid protein, with two distinct isoforms produced by alternative splicing. It exists as a monomer and can localize to both the cytoplasm and nucleus.
