Target Information

Cardiac Troponin I (TnI) is an integral inhibitory protein in cardiac muscle, forming a complex with troponin C (TnC) and troponin T (TnT). It binds to actin within muscle thin filaments and regulates contraction through calcium-mediated conformational changes.
Measurement of blood TnI and TnT levels serves as a diagnostic indicator of cardiac muscle damage, differentiating angina from myocardial infarction.
Cardiac Troponin I also inhibits angiogenesis in vivo and in vitro. Mutations in its gene are associated with familial hypertrophic cardiomyopathy type 7 (CMH7) and familial restrictive cardiomyopathy (RCM).
