Target Information
CD82 is a metastasis suppressor gene product and a membrane glycoprotein belonging to the transmembrane 4 superfamily. Its expression is downregulated during tumor progression and can be activated by p53 through a consensus binding sequence in the promoter. Expression of CD82 and p53 are strongly correlated, and loss of both is associated with poor survival in prostate cancer patients. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified for this gene.
