Product Specific Information

The eBio500A2 monoclonal antibody reacts with the 25 kD epsilon subunit of the mouse CD3 complex. CD3 subunits gamma, delta, and epsilon are required for proper assembly, trafficking, and surface expression of the TCR complex. CD3 is expressed by thymocytes in a developmentally regulated manner and by all mature T cells and NKT cells.
Binding of eBio500A2 to CD3 initiates intracellular biochemical pathways leading to cellular activation and proliferation. The 500A2 antibody partially cross-blocks the 17A2 and 145-2C11 antibodies, indicating overlapping epitopes among these anti-CD3 antibodies.

Target Information

The CD3 subunit complex transduces antigen-recognition signals into the cytoplasm of T cells and regulates surface expression of the TCR complex.
T cell activation involves CD3γ, CD3δ, CD3ε, and CD3ζ subunits—members of the immunoglobulin superfamily encoded on chromosome 11.
CD3 components associate with cytoplasmic signal transduction molecules via tyrosine-based motifs.
CD3 is expressed on 68–82% of peripheral blood lymphocytes, 65–85% of thymocytes, and Purkinje cells in the cerebellum, but not on B or NK cells.
Defects in CD3 genes are associated with CD3 immunodeficiency.
