Target Information
Rb (Retinoblastoma protein) is a tumor suppressor nuclear phosphoprotein that binds to DNA. It is phosphorylated on serine and threonine residues, but not on tyrosine. Rb forms complexes with SV40 large T antigen, adenovirus E1A, and HPV-16 E proteins. It plays a role in transcriptional regulation, and loss of Rb function leads to uncontrolled cell growth. Mutations or aberrations in the RB gene are associated with cancers of the breast, colon, prostate, kidney, nasopharynx, and leukemia.
