Target Information
The PAX7 gene belongs to the paired box (PAX) family of transcription factors, which contain a paired box domain, an octapeptide, and a paired-type homeodomain. These genes play crucial roles in fetal development and cancer progression. Although the specific function of PAX7 is not fully understood, it is speculated to have tumor suppressor activity, as fusion with a forkhead domain family member has been linked to alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma. Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene.
