Product Specific Information
Store vial at 4°C prior to restoration. For extended storage, aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature.
This product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.
This antibody is specific for mouse IL-6 protein. A BLAST analysis was used to suggest cross-reactivity with IL-6 from mouse sources based on 100% homology with the immunizing sequence. Cross-reactivity with IL-6 from other sources has not been determined.
Target Information
IL-6 encodes a cytokine involved in inflammation and B cell maturation. The protein acts as an endogenous pyrogen, inducing fever in autoimmune or infectious conditions. It is primarily expressed at sites of inflammation and activates transcriptional inflammatory responses through the interleukin 6 receptor alpha.
IL-6 is implicated in diseases such as diabetes mellitus, systemic juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, Kaposi sarcoma, and rheumatoid arthritis. Elevated IL-6 levels have been observed in viral infections including COVID-19.
