Target Information
CDH12 is a type II classical cadherin belonging to the cadherin superfamily of integral membrane proteins mediating calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion. Mature cadherins consist of a large N-terminal extracellular domain, a single membrane-spanning domain, and a small, conserved C-terminal cytoplasmic domain. Type II cadherins are defined by the absence of the HAV cell adhesion recognition sequence found in type I cadherins. CDH12 is predominantly expressed in the brain and may play a role during neuronal development, particularly in synaptogenesis.
