Target Information
The PHF6 gene belongs to the plant homeodomain (PHD)-like finger (PHF) family. It encodes a protein with two PHD-type zinc finger domains, suggesting a role in transcriptional regulation and nucleolar localization.
Mutations in this gene are associated with Borjeson-Forssman-Lehmann syndrome (BFLS), characterized by intellectual disability, epilepsy, hypogonadism, hypometabolism, obesity, facial swelling, narrow palpebral fissures, and large ears.
Alternate transcriptional splice variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
