PHF6 유전자는 plant homeodomain (PHD)-like finger (PHF) 패밀리에 속하며, 두 개의 PHD-type zinc finger 도메인을 포함합니다.
이 단백질은 전사 조절에 관여할 가능성이 있으며, 핵소체에 위치합니다.
PHF6 유전자의 변이는 Borjeson-Forssman-Lehmann 증후군(BFLS)과 연관되어 있으며, 정신지체, 간질, 저성선증, 저대사증, 비만, 얼굴 부종, 좁은 안열, 큰 귀 등의 증상을 유발할 수 있습니다.
다양한 전사적 스플라이싱 변이체가 보고되어 있습니다.
