Target Information
Cytokeratins are a subfamily of intermediate filament proteins characterized by biochemical diversity, represented in human epithelial tissues by at least 20 different polypeptides. They range in molecular weight between approximately 40 kDa and 68 kDa and have isoelectric pH values between 4.9 and 7.8.
Human cytokeratins are numbered 1 to 20, and their expression patterns are characteristic of epithelial type and maturation level. These patterns are widely used to distinguish epithelial malignancies. Cytokeratin antibodies assist in differential tumor diagnosis using immunohistochemistry and are valuable tools in cytopathology and flow cytometry assays.
