Target Information

Syntaxin-1A/1B are members of the syntaxin superfamily, nervous system-specific proteins involved in docking synaptic vesicles with the presynaptic plasma membrane. They contain a single C-terminal transmembrane domain, a SNARE domain, and an N-terminal regulatory domain. Syntaxins bind synaptotagmin in a calcium-dependent manner and interact with voltage-dependent calcium and potassium channels via the C-terminal H3 domain. These proteins play a key role in ion channel regulation and synaptic exocytosis. Alternatively spliced variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
