Target Information
This gene encodes a protein that is part of the syntaxin or t-SNARE (target-SNAP receptor) family. These proteins are located on cell membranes and serve as targets for V-SNARES (vesicle-SNAP receptors), enabling specific synaptic vesicle docking and fusion.
A microdeletion in the chromosome 20 region where this gene resides has been associated with pseudohypoparathyroidism type Ib.
Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
