Target Information
The CHN2 gene encodes a protein belonging to the chimerin family, containing a phorbol-ester/DAG-type zinc finger, a Rho-GAP domain, and an SH2 domain. This protein exhibits GTPase-activating activity regulated by phospholipid binding, and diacylglycerol (DAG) binding induces translocation from the cytosol to the Golgi membrane. It is involved in smooth muscle cell proliferation and migration. Decreased expression is associated with high-grade gliomas and breast tumors, while increased expression is linked to lymphomas. Mutations have been associated with schizophrenia in men. Multiple splice variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
